Updated 2015 NBA Championship Futures

It won’t be long until the playoffs start now so let’s take a closer look at the 2015 NBA Championship futures. The Golden State Warriors have looked like the best team in the NBA season with their dazzling offense and stifling defense and are the current favorite at 3/1. Lebron James and the Cavaliers at 7/2 aren’t far behind them though as these two teams seem on a collision course for the Finals.

The Warriors have just seemed like a completely different team this season and it just goes to show how important having the right coach for your team is. Steve Kerr has changed the whole culture in Golden State and suddenly Steph Curry looks like an MVP and Draymond Green is one of the scariest players in the NBA. Obviously, having all this talent in place is a big help but you can’t underestimate the job that Steve Kerr has done this season. I really like this Warriors team and can’t wait to see what they’ll do in the playoffs.

The same can be said for the Atlanta Hawks who currently sit at 15/2. They have such a beautiful offense that does everything that the Spurs do well. Mike Budenholzer has really revitalized this franchise and it’ll be interesting to see how they do in the playoffs. People always say the game slows down in the postseason which would work to their detriment, but I wouldn’t underestimate this team. They have some real talent and a smart, smart coach.

Of course, if they are going to do anything they will have to go through Lebron James and the Cavs at 7/2. There has been some headaches and serious ups and downs for this team, but they’ve looked really scary in the second half and more like the team we thought they would be. Kevin Love has been a disappointment, but I think that is less on Love and more on how they are using him. He’s a dangerous player who is not being allowed to use all this weapons, but where he has lacked the Lebron and Kyrie team has shined. Hopefully they can figure out the whole puzzle because this could be one of the best teams Lebron has ever had behind him. They are the favorites for a reason.

The Thunder remain in the thick of things at 8/1 despite all their injury woes while most of the West teams are just waiting for the playoffs. The Spurs at 8/1 look dangerous as always, the Rockets at 25/1 are probably not getting the respect they deserve and the Clippers at 18/1 are always dangerous. This seems like the Warriors year, but the West is always tough and any of these teams could make noise.
