2015-16 NBA Futures as of August 30th, 2015

With NBA free agency getting close to it’s end Bovada.lv sportsbook has updated their 2015-16 NBA Championship Futures and we have them here for you today.

The Cavaliers are still the top favorite at +275 with Kevin Love coming back, Kyrie Irving expected to recover, Lebron remaining a Cavalier and Cleveland remaining in the East it makes a ton of sense why they would be the favorite. They may not be the most perfect team in basketball, but anything less than a Finals appearance would be a huge upset for this squad. If they ever figure out how to make the Lebron/Love/Irving trio work as a unit, look out. This could be the year.

The defending champion Warriors saw their odds drop since our last update. The reason for that is simple: LaMarcus Aldridge is now a Spur and San Antonio looks more dangerous than ever. The Warriors didn’t make any changes to their core and should come back strong, but there is the “championship hangover” that we’ve seen so many teams run into that could play a factor this season. The Spurs meanwhile have earned their place here as they should be downright scary at times as they add a superstar forward to their beautiful system. There will be an adjustment period, but once it’s over this could be the best team in the NBA if everything breaks right.

The Clippers, Rockets and Thunder are always lingering near the top. If one of those teams were in the East I’m sure they’d be one of the top three favorites, but the West will be a battle no matter what. The Clippers have teased us over the years of breaking out and last season might have been the worst of it, but they always failed in the end. Will late career Paul Pierce be enough to get them over the hump? Of those three teams they have to be my favorite to make the leap. (Even though Ty Lawson on the Rockets could be the best move of the year. I need to see it to believe it.)

Bringing up the rear is the Philadelphia 76ers. This line could be +250000000 instead of +25000 and I still wouldn’t even put twenty five cents on it. The Magic, Nuggets, Hornets and Kings are also at +25000 which honestly just makes me feel bad for Boogie Cousins. They’ll be better than the Sixers at least. Right? They signed Rajon Rondo and we know what he is capable of. (Actually this line seems about right.)
