NBA Playoffs First Round Betting Odds

The NBA Playoffs start this Saturday and we couldn’t be more excited. There are tons of great match-ups and a lot of intriguing storylines heading into the playoffs. This should be an all-time great playoffs and the champion is actual a pretty big question mark right now. That’s always fun.

Today we have complete odds for the first round including series exact prices. There is a lot of fun first round match-ups and injuries will definitely play a factor in some of these series.

Check out all the odds below with a few of my own personal opinions sprinkled in.

Eastern Conference Betting Odds

Washington Wizards+400
Toronto Raptors-600
Wizards 4-0 +8000Wizards 4-1 +3300Wizards 4-2 +1200Wizards 4-3 +950
Raptors 4-0 +325Raptors 4-1 +185Raptors 4-2 +350Raptors 4-3 +450

Raptors fans are really worried right now. The team did not finish the season strong and this is a pretty tough match-up. On paper, you have to like Bradley Beal and John Wall more than DeMarr DeRozan, right? I know I do.

The only thing here is that the Wizards seem to hate each other and have been playing garbage basketball all year long. I think the Raptors will make it to the second round, but it won’t be easy. I like the Raptors in 6 +350 as my play in this one. You know they’ll blow game one as they always do and they’ll probably lose one in DC before figuring it all out.

Milwaukee Bucks+155
Boston Celtics-175
Bucks 4-0 +1400Bucks 4-1 +700Bucks 4-2 +400Bucks 4-3 +450
Celtics 4-0 +1100Celtics 4-1 +450Celtics 4-2 +500Celtics 4-3 +400

Milwaukee has been one of the most disappointing teams this season, but they are finally getting healthy going into the playoffs. They are facing a tough defense and a far better coached team, but the Celtics are pretty injured right now and Giannis Antetokounmpo is by far the best player on the court in this series. He should play 40+ minutes per game in this one and I can really see them stealing this. Bucks in 6 +400 is probably the best play here.

That said, the Celtics have been playing amazing basketball without Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart and I could see them doing it again here. The Bucks are a value play, there is no fun in betting Boston.

Miami Heat+300
Philadelphia 76ers-400
Heat 4-0 +5000Heat 4-1 +2500Heat 4-2 +900Heat 4-3 +900
76ers 4-0 +37576ers 4-1 +20076ers 4-2 +40076ers 4-3 +400

There is really no reason that the Heat couldn’t upset here. They have a great defense, they have Hassan Whiteside going against a team that has no rim protectors without Joel Embiid and they have playoff experience on their side. Ben Simmons will have trouble in this one as I think the Heat will really be able to game plan around his weaknesses. The Sixers are great, but a small bet on the Heat +300 is not a bad play.

Indiana Pacers+475
Cleveland Cavaliers-750
Pacers 4-0 +5000Pacers 4-1 +2500Pacers 4-2 +1000Pacers 4-3 +900
Cavaliers 4-0 +350Cavaliers 4-1 +225Cavaliers 4-2 +350Cavaliers 4-3 +400

This is such a weird series. I think there is one of two things that will happen: the Pacers will win or the Cavs will sweep. There is no in-between. Either LeBron James and company remember who they are and shut down this Indiana team. Or the Pacers win and the James family starts packing their bags for the next destination. There is no in between. Bet whichever you think is more likely. I’m leaning Cavs 4-0 +350.

Rockets 4-0 EVENRockets 4-1 +140Rockets 4-2 +450Rockets 4-3 +1200

The Wolves just played their biggest game of the year and the Rockets should sweep this one easily. The Wolves defense has left a lot to be desired all season and I don’t see that getting any better here. Jimmy Butler could challenge James Harden in this one, but if he does the Wolves have no answer for Chris Paul. Rockets sweep is the best play.

San Antonio Spurs+600
Golden State Warriors-1000
Spurs 4-0 +5000Spurs 4-1 +2800Spurs 4-2 +1100Spurs 4-3 +1200
Warriors 4-0 +325Warriors 4-1 +200Warriors 4-2 +350Warriors 4-3 +400

Maybe my least favorite series of the first round. The Spurs without Kawhi Leonard just aren’t very fun to watch and the Warriors without Stephen Curry are kind of boring. I can see Gregg Poppovich stealing a game for the Spurs, but this one shouldn’t be very competitive beyond that. Warriors 4-1 +200 is a decent play.

New Orleans Pelicans+170
Portland Trailblazers-200
Pelicans 4-0 +2200Pelicans 4-1 +1100Pelicans 4-2 +500Pelicans 4-3 +600
Trail Blazers 4-0 +750Trail Blazers 4-1 +333Trail Blazers 4-2 +450Trail Blazers 4-3 +325

This is probably my favorite series of the first round. If these two teams had drawn different opponents, I would’ve picked both of them. That’s how much I like them. This is a real coinflip for me and I think it goes seven games. I don’t think the Blazers have an answer for Anthony Davis and the Pelicans won’t be able to stop Dame and C.J. McCollum.

Pick your favorite and bet the game 7 odds. I am leaning Pelicans 4-3 +600, but playing at Portland with playoff Damian Lillard scares the heck out of me.

Utah Jazz+115
Oklahoma City Thunder-135
Jazz 4-0 +1400Jazz 4-1 +800Jazz 4-2 +450Jazz 4-3 +650
Thunder 4-0 +950Thunder 4-1 +450Thunder 4-2 +450Thunder 4-3 +290

I want to take the Jazz here, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. Donovan Mitchell is playing his first playoff series and Ricky Rubio is no match for Russell Westbrook. Rudy Gobert is a big problem, but I don’t think the Jazz have any answer for playoff Paul George. The shortened rotations should really help the Thunder and I think they’ll pull this one off. Best value is probably Thunder 4-1 +450.

2018 NBA Western Conference Championship Betting Odds

The playoffs start Saturday and there are a fair share of questions heading into the first round. It’s time to take one last look at the 2018 Western Conference championship odds.

Top NBA Sportsbooks
Bovada

Golden State is once again the favorite, but not without questions. Will Stephen Curry be ready by the second round? Can the bench give them enough? Can they flip the on switch when it has clearly been set to off for the past several weeks? I think as long as Stephen Curry comes back for the Western Conference Finals, they are going back to the Finals. He’s just that good and makes that big of a difference for this team. The Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green team is still very good, but they aren’t that elite, show stopping team that they are with Curry on the floor.

The Rockets are very interesting. They have the talent to compete with the Warriors. They’ll have Chris Paul or James Harden on the court for 48 minutes a game and that makes them dangerous. They have plenty of shooters and can score with anyone. The Rockets and Warriors at full strength will be a war and probably decide the NBA championship. These are the two options.

One team that I think is pretty interesting is the Blazers +2200. They get the Pelicans in the first round, a really tough match-up, but if they are able to survive that they get the Warriors in the next round. Any injury situation with Curry and that could be a real problem for Golden State. Damian Lillard is a big time performer and while I don’t think they’ll do it, they are certainly a threat to make the Western Conference Finals. Throw in some of the old Harden/Paul choking theories and, well, you never know.

I’d say the same about the Pelicans. If they upset the Blazers and the same Curry injury stuff happens, they could also find themselves in the WCF. The Warriors don’t have a good answer for Anthony Davis and once you’re in the Conference Finals, anything can happen. I don’t think I see that happening, but they deserve better odds than this.

The season is more than halfway through and the Warriors are even bigger favorites than when we started. Of course, they are. Stephen Curry has quietly been having his best season and is a sleeper MVP candidate. Kevin Durant is also an MVP candidate while Draymond Green and Klay Thompson have continued to do their thing. This team is a monster and it’s hard not to just give up as it seems so inevitable what they are going to do.

The Rockets have made a little jump in the odds as well. They only have one loss this season when Clint Capela, James Harden and Chris Paul all play. The move to Houston has really unlocked another level within Chris Paul and he continues to show why he is one of the best players in the NBA. Of course, even Paul is nothing compared to what Harden is doing this year. It’s funny because as great as he’s been, he could yet again be overlooked for MVP. I don’t know if this team can beat the Warriors, but it definitely feels like these two in the Western Conference finals will be the “real” Finals.

The Spurs have dropped because they’ve barely had Kawhi Leonard this year and everyone is getting a little older. The Thunder have dropped because they are who we thought they were. The Wolves have dropped because they can’t even spell defense.

This is the Warriors’ Conference to lose.

The Western Conference Championship odds are here and the Warriors are as big of a favorite as ever. Why not? They plowed through the playoffs last year and showed as long as Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson are healthy that no one can really stop them. They are great, one of the greatest teams in the history of the NBA and there is no one set up to stop them right now.

Top NBA Sportsbooks

That won’t stop the Houston Rockets from trying though. They added Chris Paul is one of the biggest moves of the offseason and they still have James Harden (who probably should’ve been the MVP last season). This team is going to try and tilt the math in their direction when playing the Warriors by shooting boatloads of three pointers. Can they do it? Hard to say, but they are certainly going to try and crazier things have happened.

The only other team I’d personally consider in the West is the San Antonio Spurs. If Kawhi Leonard was healthy last season that playoff series against the Warriors might’ve turned out very differently. When he was in there, they were playing close and he was doing great things. The system is real, just ask the Rockets. I have a hard time betting on this team to do it, but it wouldn’t really shock me to see it happen.

Then, of course, we have the Oklahoma City Thunder at +1800. Paul George is great and along with Russell Westbrook should be great together. You have to think this team will have a great defense as well since George is a great defender, but it just doesn’t seem like enough. Who knows what Carmelo Anthony will bring and this team relies on Andre Roberson more than a contender should. This team could be fun this year, but maybe not championship material.

2018 NBA Championship Odds

The playoffs start Saturday so it is now time for our final NBA Championship odds update before the playoffs. The odds haven’t changed much and despite the injury concerns with Stephen Curry and the Rockets, the Warriors are still the favorite to win this thing.

Top NBA Sportsbooks

You can actually get the Rockets at 2/1 at 5Dimes which is pretty good odds for the #1 team of the regular season. The Warriors seem to think that they can “turn it on” when the playoffs start, but that is a dangerous game to play. They aren’t the same without Curry and he will be out until at least the second round. They should handle the Spurs in the first round, but the second round could go longer than they’d like and they could be exhausted by the Western Conference Finals. I’m definitely taking a believe it when I see it approach to the Rockets, but that is pretty good odds for what was the best team in the regular season with two bonafide MVP-level superstars in Chris Paul and James Harden.

The Eastern Conference teams rightfully are getting no respect, but if the Cavaliers somehow put it together in the coming weeks then Bovada could regret that +855 line on them. That is, of course, a big IF but when LeBron James is involved anything is possible.

With every team at the 50-game mark of the season, we thought it was a good time to take a look at the NBA Championship Odds. The Warriors have been as good as we expected, but Cleveland has really struggled this year and their choke hold on the Eastern Conference seems at risk. Additionally, the Warriors may have their biggest test yet in the West as the Rockets have been amazing this season.

Top NBA Sportsbooks
Bovada

You’ll see the updated odds below. The Warriors are a big favorite right now at -207. Compare this to December of last year when they were -110 and the Warriors seem more of a favorite than ever this season.

The Cavs +620 and Rockets +670 are the only other viable contenders by the odds right now. The Celtics at +1200 could come out of the Eastern Conference, but they aren’t quite at that level yet and the result seems obvious if they were to face the Warriors.

I’m surprised to see the lack of respect the Spurs +2650 and Raptors +2650 are getting. The Raptors are the current two seed in the East with a clear path to #1, they’ve also played a lot better than any version of this team we’ve seen over the past couple of years. I could see them coming out of the West, but much like Boston it’s hard to see them giving the Warriors a series.

Congratulations to the Golden State Warriors on their 2017 NBA Championship. While we felt that this was going to happen all along, it was still great to see as the Warriors proved that they are one of the greatest teams of all-time. Kevin Durant played amazing, Stephen Curry proved he is still one of the best guards in the NBA and the rest of the cast did great. Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala take this group from great team to next level team and it was great to see them working at full strength. Congratulations, you earned it.

Of course, there is a lot of talk about whether or not this is “good” for the NBA. Funny, I don’t remember people doing this in the days of the Michael Jordan Bulls. Maybe people just like to complain about things now. Still, the Warriors opening as a -175 favorite to win the 2018 takes a bit of the fun out of the offseason.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be moves. There are tons of rumors about the Cavs making a move for Jimmy Butler, possibly trading Kevin Love. That would be a lateral move in the regular season in my opinion, but for the match-up with the Warriors it gets interesting. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are two of the best in the game and part four of this series wouldn’t be a bad thing. There’s a reason the Cavs are the second favorite at +350. LeBron James teams go to the Finals. Period.

The only other teams with a decent chance in these odds are the Celtics +1200 and the Spurs +1200. Of course, things can always change. Paul George is on the trading block. Gordon Hayward is a free agent. The Celtics have all the draft picks and all the trade chips. Blake Griffin and Chris Paul could possibly move. The NBA will shift this offseason as teams try to make moves to compete with the two juggernauts.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Kings have no chance at +50000. They already traded away DeMarcus Cousins and now Rudy Gay is leaving. It’s going to be a long time before they move up the ranks.

The 76ers are finally starting to do so at +10000 for them. Still very unlikely, but Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, Ben Simmons and possibly Markelle Fultz make them a real team and a possible playoff contender. All it took was four years of tanking. A roster like that might have people thinking that it would be a good idea to try what they did.

2018 NBA Eastern Conference Championship Odds

The playoffs start Saturday so let’s take one last look at the Eastern Conference Championship odds.

Despite being the fourth seed, the Cleveland Cavaliers are once again the favorite to win the Eastern Conference. Having the best player in the world in LeBron James will do that for you. There is still a ton of questions about this team heading into the postseason. They finished with the 29th best Defensive Rating in the NBA and don’t really show any interest on that end. That might not be a problem against a team like the Pacers, but the Raptors or Sixers could give them a run for their money.

The 76ers have probably the most intriguing odds of any team on the board. By virtue of being the third seed, they will avoid the Raptors or Cavaliers until the Eastern Conference finals. Assuming things go exactly as they are seeded, they’ll fave a Celtics team that is beat up in the second round. Or a Bucks team that maybe figured something out and Giannis Antetokounmpo doing Giannis thing. The Joel Embiid injury is the big question mark. If we know he’ll be back by a certain time, I can see that +500 bet being very profitable.

I guess I need to mention the Bucks then too. They have been infuriating all season, but they just got healthy and could see the Celtics without Kyrie Irving in and then the Sixers without Joel Embiid. Giannis is going to play huge minutes and stranger things have happened.

Yeah, its the Cavs. It’s always the Cavs.

What a difference 50 games makes. While before the season we had the Cavs as the favorite by a lot, their odds have dropped quite a bit and I am honestly surprised they haven’t dropped further. This team is bad.

Top NBA Sportsbooks
Bovada
5Dimes

As of this writing, the Cavs have the 28th ranked defense by Defensive Rating and no team that low has ever really sniffed the NBA Finals. While this is a team with an “on/off switch”, that’s a bit too much of a switch for even a LeBron James led team. The injury to Kevin Love will hurt, Isaiah Thomas has had trouble coming back from injury, J.R. Smith is having the worst year of his career and Tristan Thompson seems to be suffering from the Kardashian curse. This team could be the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference and that is scary. LeBron is still the best player, but he can only do so much. This could be the year he misses the Finals.

So who do we take? The Celtics +260 look good, but there are questions. They have the league’s best defense, but just the 17th ranked offense. They currently hold the top seed in the Eastern Conference and will have a strong home court advantage. This could Kyrie Irving‘s big breakout year if he defeats the Cavs in the playoffs and heads to the Finals. A lot of this depends on how Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown continue to develop. Weaknesses are exposed in the playoffs and that could be their undoing. Of course, they could always get Gordon Hayward back by that point and that would be really interesting. Even if he is just a super Kyle Korver, that would be huge for them. Easy to see why they are the non-Cavs favorite.

I’ve been burned before, but the Raptors +600 are very intriguing to me. I know that Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan have had rough gos in the playoffs in the past, but this is a different team. They move the ball better, they shoot the three better and they are one of the best defensive teams in the league. They are third in the NBA in Net Rating behind the Warriors and Rockets and just might be the best team in the East. They currently have the two seed which has them getting the Cavs in the second round (if the season ended today).

The Bucks at +1660 are interesting just because of how they’ve transformed in the short time since Jason Kidd‘s firing. While Giannis Antetokounmpo is an MVP candidate, they’ve gotten great play out of Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe as well. While we probably need to wait and see how Jabari Parker fares when he returns, this is a team on the rise. I can see them moving into the #3 seed and pushing Cleveland to the #4.

The 2018 NBA Eastern Conference Championship Odds are in and once again the Cavs look like the favorite. They open at a nearly 1-2 favorite and there doesn’t seem to be anyone who can possibly touch them in the conference. Let’s go through the contenders.

Boston +260 is an interesting play as they just added Kyrie Irving this offseason, but they gave up quite a bit. Jae Crowder would’ve been great defending LeBron in this postseason series and the loss of Avery Bradley will hurt. That said, Kyrie is awesome and Gordon Hayward is also awesome. Throw in the best coach in the Eastern Conference in Brad Stevens and we might have something here. This might be the best bet.

The Raptors are a somewhat surprising +2000. This will be a great regular season and could finish with a top seed in the East. Of course, Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan are bad in the playoffs and this team hasn’t been able to touch the Cavs in the playoffs over the past few years. Hard to argue with this.

A real interesting team is the Wizards +1200. They didn’t lose a home game in the playoffs last season and their starting five is one of the best in the NBA. John Wall and Bradley Beal are a super talented backcourt that can easily win games by themselves. They don’t have much of a bench, but that matters less in the playoffs. This will be an interesting team to watch this year to see if they make the leap.

The Bucks at +2000 are only interesting if Giannis Antetokounmpo makes a giant leap and becomes the new LeBron James. Even then, I’m not sure it’s enough.

These odds are nice and all, but this is the Cavs Conference to lose. Isaiah Thomas is a nice addition, Kevin Love is still great and there are enough pieces around them to make this thing work one more time. Beating the Warriors on the other hand…

The NBA Playoffs start this Saturday! There is still a lot of seeding to be figured out between now and the last game of the season, and the last seed in the West is still up for grabs, but we should know everything after tonight.

We’ll be posting full odds for each series as well as previews and our tips. This is an exciting year as there is so much parity that there is a real chance we could see some upsets. The Celtics are the #2 seed, but without Kyrie Irving they are very vulnerable. The Warriors may not be round one vulnerable, but they are a very different team without Stephen Curry and their bench is really lacking this year. This should be a real interesting playoffs.

The latest NBA Championship odds are below. I don’t expect them to change too much between now and Saturday, but I will update the odds on the 2018 NBA Championship Odds page if they do.

2018 NBA Championship – Odds to Win

  • Golden State Warriors+120
  • Houston Rockets+170
  • Cleveland Cavaliers+600
  • Toronto Raptors+850
  • Philadelphia 76ers+1600
  • Oklahoma City Thunder+2500
  • Portland Trail Blazers+4000
  • Utah Jazz+4500
  • San Antonio Spurs+6000
  • Boston Celtics+8000
  • Washington Wizards+10000
  • Minnesota Timberwolves+12500
  • New Orleans Pelicans+12500
  • Milwaukee Bucks+15000
  • Indiana Pacers+15000
  • Miami Heat+20000

This is definitely feeling like the Rockets year. James Harden has been playing on another level and Chris Paul has been a godsend to that team. Harden won’t have to shoulder the entire load like he did last year and they look like a solid play. Especially with the Curry injury. Of course, those two have let down in the playoffs before and we won’t believe it til we see it.

The Cavaliers are always an intriguing play thanks to LeBron James. I don’t love the team as their defense has been one of the worst in the league this season, but they can outscore anyone and they’ve shown in the past few weeks that they are the best team in the East. The Raptors seemed to have peaked too early and they have real question marks surrounding them in the playoffs.

I honestly think it will be the 76ers who meet the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals. They have the third seed so they will avoid Cleveland until then. They draw a favorable first round match-up and then a depleted Celtics team in round two. Crazier things have happened and you have to wonder if this team could win the East. They are +450 at Bovada to do that.

We typically get updated odds on the MVP, Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards as we get closer to the voting so I will be sure to update those as well. Ben Simmons looks like a lock for Rookie as does Harden for MVP, but Donovan Mitchell and LeBron are lurking. LBJ has had one of his best ever seasons and that should not be counted out. Could be interesting voting. Without Kawhi Leonard, the DPOY feels wide open.

So stay tuned to our site, we’ll have a ton of content over the next few days and throughout the playoffs. I’ll also be posting daily betting tips over at NBATips.Net so check that out as well.
