The Denver Nuggets have to be one of the most intriguing teams in the NBA this season. They are filled with young talent that should continue to develop this season. Gary Harris will be 24 this season, Nikola Jokic will be 23 and Jamal Murray will be 21. Considering the numbers these guys put up last season, I think the future is bright for this team. They just missed the playoffs last season with 46 wins and see their total at 45.5 wins for this season. That looks very juicy to me.

First off, let’s talk about Paul Millsap. He had a down year across the board last season as injuries limited him to just 37 games last season. He’s getting up there in age, but he is one of the more consistent players in this league and I expect him to have a strong bounce back season.
Nikola Jokic is amazing and that loss of Millsap might’ve helped his development quite a bit last season. He averaged 18.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists (!) last year. If he can match that, this team will be good. If he continues to grow at this pace? Look out.
The player that I think is key to this team making the leap and winning this division is Jamal Murray. He was only 20 last season and he averaged 16.7 points per game. That’s amazing. He’s a strong three-point shooter that should only continue to grow into his role with this team. Between him and Gary Harris, scoring will never be a problem for this team.
Denver also added one of the most interesting players this season in Isaiah Thomas. Two years ago this was one of the most unstoppable scorers in the league and then he played through an injury for the Celtics. The Celtics rewarded him by trading him to the Cavs which went disastrously and his reputation was tarnished. He’s had time to recover from the injury and a whole summer of rehab. I am expecting big things out of him this year and he could be an absolute game changer off the bench for this team. Think, the best possible Jamal Crawford season in a smaller body with better three point shooting. Yes, please.
The defense was rough last season, ranking 23rd out of 30 and is probably the thing that kept this team out of the playoffs. Coach Mike Malone is a smart coach and I think he’ll get more out of them on that end this year. Millsap being back full-time will be a big help and the development of the young players should as well. Small sample size, but Murray has looked better on that end in the preseason.
This one really sort of baffles me. The Nuggets feel like an easy over as they should at the very least match last season’s numbers.
