2019 Eastern Conference Betting Odds

The Eastern Conference should be hotly contested with no less than four teams who have a real shot at winning this thing and making it to the NBA Finals against the Western Conference winner. A full look at the Eastern Conference championship betting odds is below.

The favorite in the Eastern Conference this year is, unsurprisingly, the Boston Celtics. This team made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last season and the team that beat them no longer exists. With LeBron James now playing in the West, it feels like the East is their’s for the taking. The fact that they did it last year without Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving is amazing and having them back should make them the favorite to win this thing. In fact, I’m surprised they aren’t a bigger favorite.

Next up, we have the Raptors. This has been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference over the past couple of years and they just upgraded from DeMar DeRozan to one of the best defensive players in the league and a true superstar in Kawhi Leonard. There are fit questions and people wonder if he’ll want to win there, but on paper this could be a 60-win team. This is a team that LeBron has especially owned over the years and with him gone, it would seem they have a chance. The new Nick Nurse offense should be exciting as well and this is a very solid play.

The Philadelphia 76ers are next up and they are a pretty interesting team. They have Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, who might be two of the ten best players in this league right now. That said, a lot of what made them special last season is now gone and they are going to try and incorporate Markelle Fultz into the starting lineup. There will be some growing pains there and I’m not sure this team is cut out for a run to the Finals just yet. They seem one piece away. That piece very well could be Fultz, but he needs to prove it first.

My favorite dark horse candidate? The Milwaukee Bucks. The addition of coach Mike Budenholzer is the biggest acquisition by any team outside of the Lakers this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo feels like the next king of this league and Khris Middleton should have a breakout season as well. I’m excited to see what this offense looks like with a more modern system and I think the defense will be much better as well.

The only other team that I’d personally consider as a dark horse is the Washington Wizards. A healthy Bradley Beal and John Wall, Otto Porter going up a level and Dwight Howard figuring out how to contribute. I can see it, but it’s very blurry and doubtful.
